This webinar explores practical strategies for involving the public at different levels of transportation planning—from state agencies to MPOs and local governments. Attendees will learn how to foster inclusive participation, leverage Citizens Academies and other educational programs, and address accessibility challenges faced by different segments of society, including older adults and younger generations. The session will also highlight best practices for overcoming obstacles to engagement. Learning Outcomes: 1. Understand the different levels of transportation engagement – Learn how community members can participate in state, MPO, and local planning processes to influence transportation decisions. 2. Engage different populations effectively – Identify strategies to involve different age groups, including older adults and teenagers, in meaningful transportation discussions. 3. Leverage Citizens Academies and other programs – Explore structured programs that educate and empower residents to engage in transportation planning. 4. Address obstacles and challenges to participation – Recognize and overcome physical and safety challenges that limit community involvement in transportation decision-making.
