In snowshoes, we hiked up the valley, camped on top of the snow, cooked on fires, and built a snow shelter in which I slept. We took porridge for breakfast, flour for chapatis at lunchtime and dahl and rice for dinner. I also brought nuts and coconut oil for snacks. I kept warm by eating loads. If you're also interested in doing a midwinter hike, I'd recommend to join someone with experience. Winter trips are not without danger.
