It is one of the oldest parks in Bursa, covering an area of 393,000 square meters. Due to its location, size, and green landscape, it holds great importance for the city center. The park features a lake where visitors can take boat rides, and around it are tea gardens, restaurants, the Bursa Archaeological Museum, and an Open Air Theater. Its layout was shaped by a national competition in 1958 and a second competition in 1985, which aimed to transform the park into an exhibition area. The park has 143,000 square meters of green space, home to approximately 5,000 trees of 61 different species. Among these are rare and historic species, including a sila tree, three gingko trees, as well as two magnolia trees, one Uludağ fir tree, and a historic plane tree known as the *Historic Yağcılar Plane*. Since the first festival in 1963, Reşat Oyal Culture Park has hosted the International Bursa Festival. In 1999, the park was renamed *Reşat Oyal Culture Park*, but long-time residents of Bursa continue to refer to it by its original name, *Kültürpark*. In 2016, following the events of July 15, the park's name was changed to Millet Bahçesi (People’s Garden) by the government in power at the time. Today, many artists perform concerts at the nearly historic Open Air Theater within the park, maintaining its cultural significance in the city.
