Skateboard Restoration - Wheels Made From Scratch!

In this video I restored an old skateboard. The skateboard was recovered from a house fire that was started from a lightning strike. I purchased it from an auction where all the proceeds were donated to the family whose house burned down. I wanted to stick to the lightning theme in this restore. Once I got the skateboard taken apart I cut out a new deck from a piece of pine plywood. The deck was then covered in a topcoat resin. The wheels were my next task. The original wheels were old clay wheels found on early skateboards in the 1960's. This was very difficult and took many tries to get it right. I crushed up clay pots and mixed them with a 2 part polyurethane. Once I got the mold and mixture right I was happy with the wheels. I used a newer style wheel to make the mold so that I could use updated skateboard bearings. In the end my cat Remington got the honors of testing out the refreshed skateboard!
