Stormy - 1993 Brownstone demo In memory of Maxee Maxwell

In 1993 Dewayne Barnes introduced me to Nicci Gilbert because she had a group that wanted a record deal. They called themselves Brownstone. I told Nicci to bring the whole group to my house so I could meet and hear them. They sang for me and it was really good. All the girls were different in their own way. I wrote some songs for them and told them to meet me at the studio I did my demos at over on Crenshaw and she did. In the studio was Nicci, Maxee, Mimi & Kina. They all sang the chorus for this demo. Maxee sang the first verse and Nicci sang the second verse. Back then producer's didn't necessarily have to do a demo that sounded like a finished record. That's how this sound is. I was glad I could be a part of them getting signed. Although it was impossible to ignore how good and powerful Nicci's voice was I was in love with Maxee's beautiful sweet pure clean voice. I never told anyone this but I had a quiet crush on her because of her voice. This is one of the songs I wrote for the girls called Stormy. I think it speaks to how we'll all miss Maxee -Kyle
