MLA Leishiyo Keishing pushes for ICP at KAKA to boost regional trade

During a recent visit to K Ashang Khullen Aze (KAKA) Wanglee and Namlee, Phungyar Assembly Constituency MLA Leishiyo Keishing stated that the proposed Integrated check post could become an important trade corridor between India and Myanmar. The area lies about 55 kilometres from Kamjong district headquarters and around 120 kilometres from Imphal. According to the MLA, nearly 100 kilometres of the India-Myanmar border runs through Kamjong district. He said the region has strong potential for cross-border trade and fits into India’s Act East Policy, which focuses on stronger links with Southeast Asia. At present, Manipur has only one Integrated Check Post at Moreh.
