"Could You Survive On The Breadline" / In Episode One, our three contributors will be forced to hand over their credit cards and forgo all access to their current lives. They’ll travel separately to three different parts of New South Wales where they’ll live for the next nine days. From a disadvantaged inner-city community, to the outer suburbs and a regional area, they’ll have to navigate life on various forms of welfare. They’ll discover first-hand what things people are forced to live without - things like proper heating, secure and safe accommodation, adequate health care and a decent diet. In inner-city Sydney, conservative journalist/commentator Caleb Bond will experience what life is like for residents in public housing estates who are trying to get by on the disability support pension. The maximum DSP payment rate for single adults is $868 a fortnight but can be less depending on age. In south-west Sydney, Julie Goodwin will be housed in temporary emergency accommodation, as she walks a mile in the shoes of local residents living on the Jobseeker allowance. At the time of filming the Jobseeker allowance was $565 a fortnight (or $40.35 a day). In the Illawarra region, NSW Greens MP Jenny Leong will move in with a single mum on Jobseeker and discovers that safe and secure housing is a critical issue for many of those living on welfare. #documentary #society #international A documentary by David GALLOWAY First broadcast : 2021 🌍 Subscribe to 100% Documentary Overload / @documentaryoverload 🌍 Produced by Hat Trick International
