Champlain Hudson Power Express (CHPE) Project - The Crossing Group

Over the course of 16 months, The Crossing Group completed a large number of trenchless crossings for the Champlain Hudson Power Express (CHPE) project. This buried transmission line was designed to deliver 1,250 MW of renewable hydroelectric energy from Canada to the New York Metro area, passing through challenging terrain and numerous urban areas along the way. The Crossing Group utilized the capabilities of all four of its divisions to help the project owner minimize disruptions to wetlands, waterways, ecosystems, and communities across New York State. Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) was the primary trenchless technology for the project, but onsite crews utilized various other tunneling methodologies to overcome specific technical and environmental challenges.
