Driving LAX (Los Angeles International Airport) LAX / Los Angeles Episode 242 Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is the primary international airport serving Los Angeles and its surrounding metropolitan area. LAX is located in the Westchester neighborhood, 18 miles southwest of downtown Los Angeles, with the commercial and residential areas of Westchester to the north, El Segundo to the south, and Inglewood to the east. The airport covers over 3,500 acres of land and has four parallel runways. In 2009 the LAX modernization program was introduced, it is considered the largest public works program in the history of the City of Los Angeles. Key projects include major airfield and facility projects, new taxiways and major terminal renovations and infrastructure upgrades. The Tom Bradley International Terminal was modernized and expanded in phases between 2008 and 2021. Terminal 1 modernization was completed in 2018, and Terminals 7 & 8 were competed in 2019. The first phase of the new Delta Sky Way at LAX opened to the public in April 2022, along with a new, premier Delta Sky Club. As of early 2025, the Automated People Mover train project is about 96% complete, with full operations scheduled for January 2026. Music by Karl Casey @ White Bat Audio
