A short demo of a solo concert with percussion and electronics by Andrea Centazzo Composer, percussionist, and multimedia artist, Andrea Centazzo (Udine, 1948) has been a leading figure in contemporary musical research for over fifty years. In the 1970s, he revolutionized the language of percussion and founded ICTUS Records, recording with figures such as Steve Lacy, Evan Parker, Derek Bailey, John Zorn, and Don Cherry. After moving to Los Angeles in 1986, he composed 3 operas, 2 symphonies, and nearly 500 works for various ensembles, in addition to directing numerous internationally awarded films. Since 1999, he has returned to live performances with solo perc/elec. concerts and multimedia concerts, where he plays in sync with videos he himself created. Recent projects include: Tides of Gravity (with Nobel laureate Kip Thorne, produced by LIGO, Caltech and NASA), Animae Mundi (on the climate crisis), The Seer (a tribute to Leonardo da Vinci), and Distant Shadows (a tribute to Pasolini on the fiftieth anniversary of his death). The DAMS department of the University of Bologna has dedicated a section of its Arts Library to him, entitled the Andrea Centazzo Fund and Archive, which collects all of his works. In 2023, he received the City Seal of Udine for his contribution to the dissemination of Italian culture in the world.
