Norther Harrier makes a long visits. Looks it like it recently had a meal and a bath. It does crop drops, preens and dries wings. The stocky body, long wings extending well past the tail base make it a buteo-shape hawk. The facial disk (owl-like face) makes it a Northern Harrier. Overall brown color means it is either female or immature. Adult males have gray plumage and are nicknamed "Gray Ghosts" Facial disk allows these hawks to rely on hearing as well as vision to capture prey. They are often seen gliding low over a marsh or grassland, angling their heads characteristically down as they listen for small mammals.
