How I tie glo bug egg flies. See below for details. Patterns: Egg #1: Single colored egg (0:13) Egg #2: Egg with dot (1:20) Egg #3: Mixed colored egg (1:54) Egg #4: Beadhead egg (2:27) Egg #5: Egg with veil (2:58) Materials: Hook: Allen Fly Fishing N304 (size 10) Thread: UTC 140 (white) Egg: Glo Bugs Yarn (steelhead orange and Oregon cheese) and Wapsi Egg Yarn (peach) Bead: 1/8" brass bead (copper) Veil: Glo Bugs Yarn (Oregon cheese) Notes: End thread just in front of hook point. Fold ~1.25" yarn over thread (1 strand for Glo Bugs Yarn, 2 strands thick for Wapsi Egg Yarn), wrap 1X around hook, pull down on thread and up on yarn to seat the yarn on top of the hook. Wrap thread 2X around base, 2X behind yarn, 2X over yarn, and 2X in front of yarn to secure yarn at a single point. Whip finish and cut thread. Pull yarn up and cut slightly shorter than hook gap, fluff (I fluff with a brush to avoid getting stuck by the hook), and trim if needed. To add veil, fold stretched thin piece of yarn over thread and wrap like hackle.
