Bass player Carmine Rojas anchored one of popular music’s most influential and enduring artists during his commercial apogee. Brooklyn born Rojas was tapped by David Bowie to bring the British rocker's urbane urban artistic yearnings to fruition. Rojas did his homework, studying David’s previous players: producer/bassist Tony Visconti, Trevor Bolder, and George Murray. On the former David Jones’ multi-platinum era defining Let’s Dance LP, Carmine Rojas came up with yet another iconic bass motif on a remake remodel of the Iggy Pop / David Bowie composition “China Girl.” Inspired by his love of The British Invasion – Carmine conjured a passage evocative of a Rolling Stones’ classic as rendered by Brian Jones and Bill Wyman.
