A LEGENDARY Sailboat: Tested, Proven, and Ready! This Contessa 26 can go anywhere! $9,500! FULL TOUR

@boatfools  #sailing #bluewatersailing #sailboatforsale A LEGENDARY Sailboat: Tested, Proven, and Ready! This Contessa 26 can go anywhere! $9,500! These Contessa sailboats are extraordinary and their reputation as small, ocean-going vessels might be unequaled in the annals of sailing lore. And this Contessa 26 is a very fine example of one. Based on the successful design of the Nordic Folkboat, more than 750 of these were made. Some have circumnavigated the globe, others have won races. All have been adored by their owners. Rugged, sturdy, and a pleasure to sail, these boats can go anywhere. Several transoceanic voyages have been completed, including two circumnavigations: by Tania Aebi in Varuna, as described in her book Maiden Voyage, and by Brian Caldwell who in 1995 aged 19, began a journey of 27,000 miles (43,000 km) in Mai Miti Vavau to become, at the time, the youngest person to sail around the world alone. These latter two sailed in the J. J. Taylor built Canadian version of the 26 - of which this Contessa is one. However, this Contessa 26 is officially a Contessa model - built by J.J. Taylor in Ontario. Kind Of Blue has been on the hard for 12 years when the current owners found her and for the past two years they have sanded, waxed, buffed, cleaned, repaired, and worked their butts off to bring her back to good condition. They have also made some modifications for easier sail handling, etc. The Petter diesel is not currently working but it is believed it can be repaired. In the meantime, the boat comes with an outboard and a custom bracket on the transom, so she is good to go! Here is a list of items and upgrades: This coastal and bluewater folkboat masthead sloop has been restored inside and out, and sailed the islands of coastal Maine for the past two seasons. The design and materials are the best, she is well loved and hard to part with.Kind of Blue has a beautiful mahogany interior, 2 cabin bunks and full v-berth, enclosed head, gear locker, many storage lockers, cooler/chart table, recently serviced main with new logo with 3 reef points, jib, Genoa and storm sails, 4 cleaned and lubed Gibbs winches mast and cockpit, 2-burner Origo alcohol stove, rewired and new electrical panel, 50W solar keeps everything charged and the bilge dry, Standard Horizon DS and GPS, new Contest compass, new bilge pump, new customized aft traveler, customized bow roller, inner hull cleaned and painted, customized outboard bracket, 15hp classic Sailmaster OB runs great (modified from 9.9 to 15 hp), all new halyards and main sheet, restored/detailed/buffed hull, 3 coats of bottom paint means you can just put her in and sail anywhere, no leaks or rot. 25 lb CQR plow anchor holds in rough coves. Current CG international registration. https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/con..., clean boat history report available upon request. Currently on the hard Spruce Head, Maine. This Contessa 26 is being sold because the owners bought a slightly larger boat for cruising with their children. Please contact Dave at: [email protected] As always, please be kind and courteous. And be sure to get a marine survey for this boat or any boat you intend to purchase! Thanks for watching and see you next time. -BoatFools Sailing Team
