I'm no expert on the five string ukulele, but it seems simple enough to me. You play the fourth and fifth strings as if they were one string. Tune the wound 5th string low G and the 4th string exactly as you would regular GCEA ukes: high G. What I quickly discovered is you actually get two instruments in one with this uke. Strumming you get the full bodied sound of five string ukulele. Fingerpicking you get a low G tenor ukulele! When I pick I hit the fifth string and the other strings as I normally do: I never touch the 4th string! All in all, I'm very, very glad I didn't pass this ukulele.
