Well known field mycologist and researcher Shannon Adams gave the Kitsap Peninsula Mycological Society a presentation all about the large and sometimes confusing genus of Cortinarius, a medium to large tree associating gilled fungi that grow all around the world. The focus in this talk is on how to start to grasp and develop an understanding of the staggeringly large group of "webcaps" and to be able to visually ID a few in the field. We would like to give a huge thanks to Shannon for the chance to record this talk and upload it here, and for her contributions to the mycological community. If you would like to learn more about the Kitsap Peninsula Mycological Society, or to join, you could go over to https://www.kitsapmushrooms.org and sign up the entire household for only $25 per year. Your membership includes fun and amazing forays into the woods to pick mushrooms with experienced mushroom hunters, to swap knowledge, and contribute to science and your community. Please Join us for our free membership meetings, which are open to the public, on the second Thursday of each month (excluding July and August). We meet in the Rotunda (bldg 9) at Olympic College in Bremerton Washington.
