A historic public health victory from Hyderabad! After 8 years of relentless effort, paediatrician Dr. Sivaranjani Santosh made India ban fake ORS drinks that were endangering lives. These so-called “ORS” beverages contained up to 120 grams of sugar per liter — almost 10× the WHO limit — and low electrolytes, making them unsafe for dehydration treatment, especially in children. Dr. Santosh filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Telangana High Court, exposing the misuse of the word “ORS” by commercial drink companies. On October 14, 2025, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued a nationwide order: ❌ No food or beverage can use the word “ORS” unless it matches WHO’s medical formulation. This closes a dangerous loophole and marks a huge win for consumer safety and child health. --- 🕓 Date: 14 October 2025 📍 Place: Hyderabad (Telangana) | Order issued by FSSAI – New Delhi ⏰ Time: Afternoon official release --- 💬 Call to Action 👏 Salute to Dr. Sivaranjani Santosh for proving that one doctor can change a nation’s health policy! 💬 Comment your thoughts — should sugary “health” drinks face stricter control? 🔔 Subscribe for more verified health and legal updates! --- 🔥 Hashtags #FakeORSBan #DrSivaranjaniSantosh #PublicHealthVictory #FSSAIOrder #HealthReformIndia #HyderabadNews #ChildSafetyIndia #BreakingNews2025 #ConsumerRights #TrueHealthFacts #IndiaNewsUpdate #MedicalAwareness #WHOORS #SugarDrinksBan
