We never expected a calm night with no wind to become the scariest boating experience of our lives. Anchored near a sandbar in the Cambridge Anchorage at the Landon Sea Park, our boat drifted into shallow water when the wind completely died. By the time the tide dropped, we were hard aground with a 20° tilt, sliding around the cabin and fighting to keep the boat from rolling. In this video, we share the full story of how we ended up stranded on a sandbar, deploying six anchors, waiting through dead low tide at 6:30 AM, and sitting in the dinghy with our dogs as we prayed the boat wouldn’t tip. Thanks to soft sand, a full keel, and amazing friends (plus hot chocolate and cookies!), we made it through without damage—just a huge lesson learned about anchoring near sandbars and trusting wind predictions. What’s in this video: • How our boat drifted onto a sandbar overnight • What happens when tide drops with no wind to hold position • Deploying multiple anchors to prevent a rollover • Surviving a 20° tilt aboard • Checking the stabilizer fin after the tide returns • Lessons learned for safer anchoring If you’re a boater, cruiser, sailor, or just love real‑life adventure stories, this one is unforgettable.
