In the centre of the old town is the Jardim Duque Da Terceira, a well laid out garden with tangled pathways, fountains and an abundance of flowers. According to age old tradition almost each one of the island’s communes has its own Tourada Á Corda, a non-bloody bullfight during which the men await the bulls in the alleys and each bull has a rope tied around its neck to facilitate capture.
