In this lecture we reflect on the boundless mercy of Lord Nityānanda Prabhu, focusing especially on the famous Vaiṣṇava song “Boro Sukher Khabor Gāi (Dālalera Gīta)” by Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura. This song joyfully proclaims the great news: Lord Nityānanda has opened the marketplace of the Holy Name (nāmera hāṭa) in Surabhi-kuñja. In this divine market, the pure Holy Name of Kṛṣṇa is freely available—not in exchange for wealth, learning, social status, or qualification, but for the simple price of faith (śraddhā). Through the verses of this song, we explore how: Nityānanda Prabhu acts as the most merciful distributor of the Holy Name The pure name of Kṛṣṇa is sold openly, without discrimination Even the most fallen souls, down to the caṇḍālas, are given access Chanting frees one from māyā and removes the fear of Kali-yuga Shelter at the lotus feet of Lord Nityānanda is the only true refuge “Boro Sukher Khabor Gāi” reveals the heart of Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇavism: mercy first, qualification later. By calling out “Gaura!” and taking shelter of Nitāi, one receives all spiritual strength and the highest happiness. This lecture is an invitation to enter that marketplace, to take faith in our hands, and to receive the priceless treasure of śuddha Kṛṣṇa-nāma. Khoda Nitāi!
