Peace Mala International Inter-Faith Liturgy for World Peace Llandaff Cathedral Wales UK Uniting All Faiths and Communities in Peace The Swansea based multi award winning Peace Mala educational project for global citizenship organised the above event on 20 th July in response to the terrorist attacks across the world. Pam Evans (Founder of Peace Mala ) commented, ”We are living in such times of fear, violence, rising Islamaphobia and racist bullying that I felt it was high time the spotlight was put on the wonderful work being achieved by the children and young people in our Peace Mala schools. Our purpose was to send out a powerful message of love, friendship and peace to all people in our world. We certainly achieved that." Pupils and teachers from Welsh Peace Mala Accredited schools were present, as well as a good number of accredited schools from Greater Manchester and Peace Mala’s first accredited Yorkshire school, Worth Valley Primary from near Bradford. Faith representatives from fourteen religions, including three Christian Bishops from different denominations, along with supporters from across the UK and beyond attended and took part. Sheikh Ahmad Dede and his Sufi Dervishes flew in from Amsterdam to take part. This interfaith gathering for world peace was the biggest that Wales had experienced. Michael Lee Walton, a professional musician originally from Ystylafera and now living and working in London, composed the Peace Mala Anthem 'One Light' which was sung by 200 children present in the cathedral. Lead vocals were by Lola Jenkins, of Hafod Primary School Swansea. The Peace Mala story is one of continuing growth as it reaches out to all people in our global village. Peace Mala’s message is simple: “Treat the next person as you wish to be treated yourself.” For more information on Peace Mala check out their website: www.peacemala.org.uk Peace Mala Registered Office 122 Clydach Road Morriston Swansea SA6 6QB Tel: 01792 774225
