The John Glenn Astronomy Park is dedicated to sparking an interest in science, learning, and exploration by sharing with visitors the wonders of the sky, both day and night. We brought chairs, snacks & blankets and arrived about 20mins before sunset to find our spot. The staff at JGAP were kind & very knowledgeable, answering any questions we had about the night sky. When we arrived we found out that this was the first night they were opening the telescope up to the public in TWO YEARS! Once it got dark, we were able to look into the $2 Million telescope and see two spiral galaxies light years away! We've never experienced anything like this, and it was so amazing! On our checkout day we packed up the camper & headed to the dump station. After emptying our tanks we got on the road! For lunch we stopped at a rest area & made sandwiches, which has become our favorite way to eat meals on drive days! The girls & Chip can get out & stretch their legs & the rest area parking lots have plenty of space for our giant truck & rig! This drive was the FIRST time I towed the rig! I was nervous at first, but really it wasn't so bad. I look forward to towing more in the future! We arrived back in STL after dark & of course had to stop at our favorite gas station - Wally's!
