Problem Solving for Maths interviews 26th Nov 2025

This is the final session in a series of 4 webinars aimed at students who have applied to the University of Cambridge this year to study mathematics as an undergraduate degree. The webinars are run by our STEP Support Programme (https://maths.org/step). These webinars give you some strategies for solving unfamiliar problems, and some suggestions for where you can find more problems to practice your skills. We also discuss what to expect from a Cambridge mathematics interview, the different formats they might take, and how you can prepare for them. The sessions include opportunities to ask questions, and also the chance to hear current Cambridge mathematics undergraduates talking about their interview experience. The STEP Support Programme is designed to help university applicants develop their advanced problem-solving skills and prepare for sitting STEP Mathematics examinations. The programme is developed by us at the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge. It consists of online modules for individual additional study, along with hints and full solutions.
