How to install Netweaver Developer Studio

Installing Netwaver Developer Studio (NWDS) can be a little tricky. Luckily you can do it on a computer that is secured and without too many restrictions. You will need to download the NWDS from service marketplace. It is a zip file called something like NWCEIDE with support pack and patch. Just unzip this into a directory on your PC. Edit the eclipse.ini file and add the parameter -VM c:\program files\jdk18\bin\javaw.exe or what the path is to a JAVA 8 JDK for SAP PI/PO 7.5. For 7.31/7.4 you need to select a JDK that is Java 6. Then click the eclipse.exe and start it up. If the JDK version is wrong you will get an error. You can also get the JDK from SAP which is just a zip file that you can extract on your PC and link the eclipse.ini to it.
