Growing up as a hardcore kid in the eighties, Husker Du was a name that everyone knew. They had a good reputation and were DIY all the way. It took me a while to understand their music, but once I got it, I got it. Big time! Join me as I trace my journey of discovery through the sounds of Bob Mould, Grant Hart, and Greg Norton. You'll see some cool collectible pressings and hear an interesting story or 2 about the people and the times. You will also hear my strong opinion on how the critics got it all wrong about one of HD's all time classic albums! Whether on SST, Warner Brothers, New Alliance, or elsewhere, there is no denying the this trio from Minnesota made music that has way transcended the 1980's, and punk rock itself. Malcolm Tent is the owner of Trash American Style. For 21 years as a brick and mortar record store, Trash was a beacon for record collectors, punk rockers, hippies, metal heads, and anyone who loved music and underground culture. At Trash, it was (and still is) all about the vinyl. He is also the owner of TPOS Productions, a label specializing in obscure, weird, and outsider music. Plus even some bands you might have heard of. On top of that, he is the bass player for Antiseen, bassist for Ultrabunny, guitar player for They Hate Us, bass man for the Bloody Apostles, and purveyor of acoustic guitar punk rock all over the world. A real touring machine, you might say. "Tent Talks Tunes" is his vlog of music commentary, criticism, and discussion. We welcome your comments and input to the dialog.
