On this episode we have the distinct honor of debuting Monta's latest update to their original diver the Oceanking. Monta hit the ground running with their initial release of the Oceanking and instead of an incremental update to the existing watch, Monta decided to take on a full overhaul to offer essentially a brand new watch. Although the classic styling and excellent design language from the original remains, these updated queues, both aesthetically and execution wise take the latest Oceanking to a whole new level. Most notable updates being the addition of a tool-less quick-adjust clasp, a fully lumed (index) bezel insert, and the decision to move away from the super niche Eterna Caliber and instead go with the terrifically thin and equally capable Swiss Sellita SW300. With this moment change, the team at Monta are able to offer an essentially superior watch at a reduced price-point to the original. All in all, you get the thinner, more feature rich package, that is more easily serviceable and just as Swiss as the original, with a movement that is albeit more accessable, no less prestigious, considering it's still a movement found in more expensive watches(e.g. Bell & Ross, Tag Heuer, Sinn, and Meistersinger just to name a few). Needless to say, I'm a huge fan of this piece and the brand overall, I've got tons of respect for the guys over at Monta and products they're putting out there, along with the incredible value proposition they offer, really just speaks volumes to the passion and focus behind these exceptional timepieces.
