Playwright Lauren Gunderson presents Building a Playwriting Career with The Dramatists Guild livestreaming on the global, commons-based, peer-produced HowlRound TV network at howlround.tv on Friday 15 May 2020 at 11 a.m. PDT (San Francisco, UTC-7) / 1 p.m. CDT (Chicago, UTC-5) / 2 p.m. EDT (New York, UTC-4) / 19:00 BST (London, UTC+1) / 20:00 CEST (Berlin, UTC+2). About this conversation, from Lauren Gunderson: We'll talk to Tina Fallon and Deborah Murad of The Dramatists Guild about all the business and legal aspects of being a playwright. We'll talk about how playwrights can build their careers, questions about contracts, agents, opportunities and legal pitfalls. Send me your questions for these two brilliant women who have every playwright's back. I love The Dramatists Guild and so should you! === DEBORAH MURAD, ESQ. is an entertainment attorney serving as the Director of Business Affairs at the Dramatists Guild of America. In that capacity, she consults on business and legal affairs for a nationwide membership on topics ranging from copyright and trademark to negotiation and rights acquisition. Deborah has appeared as a panelist and lecturer for several programs and institutions including the Segal Center for the Performing Arts, Writers Guild of Great Britian, Woman's Theater Project, the American Association of Theater Educators (AATE), and the Dramatists Guild Institute's Musical Theater Intensive. Tina Fallon is the Executive Director of Creative Affairs for the Dramatists Guild and the founding producer of The 24 Hour Plays. Since 1995, she and The 24 Hour Company have produced The 24 Hour Plays and The 24 Hour Musicals, often as charity benefits, in many venues around the world. Fallon has been a presenter at the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival and The Association for Theatre in Higher Education, a judge for the KCACTF Irene Ryan Awards, and a teaching artist at the EDTA conference. https://howlround.com/happenings/live...
