MAKElog #14: The Brushless Gimbal together with the Brushless gimbal Controller (BGC, AlexMOS, SimpleBGC, etc.) is a good deal to get camera stabilization on a quadrocopter. Unfortunately the Gimbal does not offer downward facing (bird's eye perspective) off the shelf, so 3 easy modifications are necessary: 1. Enable mechanical full tilt movement 2. Simulate tilted cam position by installing the MEMS accelerometer sensor on a 45° wedge (e.g. made from cardboard) 3. Get gimbal balanced These steps are explained in the video. With these modifications the camera view can be changed from horizontal view to downward facing view during flight.
