Black Warrant is a drama thriller television series based on the book Black Warrant: Confessions of a Tihar Jailer by journalist Sunetra Choudhury, about Gupta’s time as a jailer at Tihar Jail. The jailer is played convincingly by the intellectual and lovely Zahan Kapoor, who has the Prithvi theatre upbringing and legacy. His humility despite the Kapoor-Sippy legacy and being Shashi Kapoor’s grandson, is refreshing and he keeps an arms length distance from it. He sweetly talks about shedding his “shabby” appearance because now he’s getting papped and also the grief that comes with disappointment. Zahan talks about how it’s taken many years to achieve any level of real recognition and doesn’t really agree when people say it’s all about the genes. He also says he can deal with the adulation better because of the hard work and struggle in his 20’s. Zahan also talks about modern relationships and why the expectations from a partner these days add so much pressure to a relationship. For all the couples out there it’s definitely an interesting perspective. Zahan talks about growing up with dyslexia and how fortunate he was to be in a school that dealt with it.
