It’s managed by the National Trust, with numerous well maintained paths, viewpoints and the famous rock houses to visit. Entry to the rock houses is free for National Trust members or there's an admission fee for non members. The views from Kinver Edge are impressive given how close it is to the West Midlands and from the top you get sweeping panoramas across the Severn Valley and over into Worcestershire countryside. The views from the ridge feel surprisingly expansive for somewhere so easily accessible from the city chaos of Birmingham, but of course with our typical British winter weather is was grey and murky when I visited so visibility was limited! Sitting on top of the ridgeline is the Kinver Edge trig point, for those who love a good trig slap! Above the rock houses you'll also find a hillfort and restored toposcope overlooking Kinver below, with a great panoramic view to boot. The Rock houses are one of the biggest draws to the area from those unfamiliar with Kinver or South Staffordshire, with them carved in directly into the red sandstone cliffs. People lived in them until the 1960s, with the National Trust restoring the interiors to show what life was like in different periods, giving a fascinating glimpse into the past and what life was like literally living in a cliff.
