In this funny and eye-opening talk about the challenges we face today with safe sex and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), Teodora Elvira Wi shares heartwarming personal stories around sex, STIs and the urgent need to break down the stigma. Throughout her career, World Health Organization Medical Officer, Wi has seen alarming statistics on STIs which she shares in her talk. As Wi says -- "Imagine a world when STIs are treated just like any other infection. This is the world I want to live in! To make this world, we urgently need to have open and stigma-free conversation about sex." Teodora Elvira Wi, M.D., FPSVI is currently the Medical Officer, Human Reproduction Team, Department of Reproductive Health and Research, World Health Organization (WHO), Geneva, Switzerland. In WHO HQ, Wi leads the development of global Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) guidelines, addressing Antimicrobial Resistance in STI, interventions for key populations, and provision of technical support to regional and national STI prevention and control programs. She has over thirty years of experience in HIV and STI programming. Wi received her M.D. degree from Saint Louis University, College of Medicine, Philippines.
