If you don’t recognize your brokenness and sinfulness, you never understand why you need salvation in the first place. We are all children of wrath, slaves to our sin and subjects of the Lord of this world. Jesus Christ comes to give us a chance to be adopted into the family of God. The enemy tells us to “live our truth” or to do whatever makes us happy. While this is certainly what we want to hear, these lies are so toxic that they will always pull us away from true fulfillment, meaning, purpose, peace, hope, and love. Jesus is the only one who can restore our soul. To restore presupposes that our souls were of God to begin with, and that’s what it means to be created in the Image of God. While God does create us perfectly, the rebellion of this world corrupts us while we are still in the womb. Rebellion and corruption are not of God, but a consequence of free will. God uses what the world means for evil for good, to bring Salvation to all who have ears to hear. (‭‭Luke‬ ‭10‬:‭1‬-‭12‬) “After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to go. And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. Go your way; behold, I am sending you out as lambs in the midst of wolves. Carry no moneybag, no knapsack, no sandals, and greet no one on the road. Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house!’ And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest upon him. But if not, it will return to you. And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the laborer deserves his wages. Do not go from house to house. Whenever you enter a town and they receive you, eat what is set before you. Heal the sick in it and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ But whenever you enter a town and they do not receive you, go into its streets and say, ‘Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God has come near.’ I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town.” (‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬-‭10‬) “And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
