This is an attempt to access the left blind spot assist control unit standalone out side car, yet it is unsuccessful, the control unit is not seen again by the gateway as when connected in the car. As acid test for the standalone setup I tried also to wire the single pins of Park Assist control unit (though connected on a different bus) and this attempt was successful. I do not know if the control unit is faulty (maybe the bus interface is damaged) or it only works together with the right control unit which is communicating on the extended bus with the gateway and then relaying the connection to a secondary bus (with a different protocol) to the left control unit (IMHO unlikely). I found two official Volkswagen TSB on US NHTSA website ( https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/201... and https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/201... ) which explains that there could be communication issues when the two control units have different firmware versions and details a procedure using Odis Service (so online and you have to pay for access) for restoring the communication between them....as last resort I could try this, but I want to see if I can manage somehow. Additional note: The blind spot assist control units are manufactured by Hella and I found some documentation about them on their website ( https://www.hella.com/techworld/uk/Te... ). I was wrong the two control units are actually connected through a dedicated high-speed CAN BUS (500 kbits :-), joking apart it is dedicated because they probably exchange a lot of messages on the bus and they do not want to contend it with other devices) so you can access the left control unit only when it is connected to the right one. As soon as I have time I will dismount the right control unit and connect them both to this setup to see if with the new (empty) gateway I can access the left one and if yes I will try to flash it.
