Functional Neurological Disorders

This is a brief presentation on Functional Neurological Disorders, which are probably the oldest, most misunderstood, and disrespected of all neurological disorders. This talk is aimed at medical students and junior doctors, but may be of interest to a wider audience. The perspective taken here is that they are mainly (though not wholly) subconscious brain processing disorders. Please note, I I acknowledge these disorders are not so easy to recognize or understand, and we have a lot of learning to do about them. However, as I have learned more about how the brain works, by generating (rather than passively sensing) much of its own reality, these disorders are not only justified, but to be expected. And it can be very rewarding helping a person with one of them.
