About Ben Chung Ben Chung was born and raised in Panorama City, CA. At a young he became intrigued by the hip hop culture, particularly with the element of Bboying and freestyle dance. In 2001, Ben joined DVS dance troupe, of which he was co-director for a year, and stepped into the competitive collegiate hip hop dance circuit. After transferring to UCI in 2002, he went on to dance with and choreograph for the competitive collegiate team, Kaba Modern. Since then, Ben became known for his unique style of blending old skool popping elements with his personal new skool flavor. After graduating from UCI in 2002 with a BA in Film Studies, he went on to dance and choreograph for the professional dance company, Funkanometry Los Angeles. Through Funkanometry LA, he was able to showcase his choreography in the Monsters of Hip Hop Show in 2005, which marked his entry into the LA dance industry. Ben steadily reps his crew, the original Jabbawockeez Crew (who can be seen on America's Got Talent Season 2, MTV's Next, and spotlighted in the upcoming feature film Step Up 2). Along side of Kevin Brewer of the Jabbawockeez, Ben is also a Co-Artistic Director of the dance company, the Super Galactic Beat Manipulators (one branch of the 4-part "Family Royale" unit) based out of San Diego, CA. Ben recently showcased his choreography again at the Monsters of Hip Hop Show in August 2007. Ben continues to work within the LA dance industry and is always focused on sharpening his craft by teaching, taking classes, and practicing with his crew, and aspires to contribute to hip hop culture by inspiring this generation and the ones to come.
