For Holy Week, I’ve written and recorded this new setting with piano of a beautiful African-American spiritual. “Were You There?” was first published in 1899 and remains one of the most sung hymns of the Easter season. This solo with piano was requested by several people, and we thought we’d go ahead and produce it. I think I like it better than the original arrangement I produced two years.
