It opened in 2001 and is situated on the site of the former Star Brewery. It is one of Romford's three main shopping malls, along with The Liberty and The Mercury. The Henderson Group sold Prudential Property Investment Managers a 25% stake in the complex for £44.25 million in 2010. At the time of the sale, its east London location, mix of retail and leisure uses, and Sainsbury's anchor store were cited as reasons for its continued success during the recession of the late 2000s. Leisure uses in the center include a bowling and amusement arcade unit, a cinema, and a number of restaurants. The Brewery can be found in the center of Romford, close to the Romford train station.
