Wide of members during New Years Day dip STORYLINE: Wishes of happiness and a more peaceful world topped the lists for the New Year, as members of Berliner Seals swimming club braced the cold waters of Berlin's Lake Oranke on Sunday. The annual New Years Day dip was milder than previous years, with outside temperatures of 16 degrees and water temperatures of 6.6 degrees. Members of the swimming club donned fancy dress to take the plunge and reflected on their goals for the new year. “This year I want to go ice swimming more regularly and I want to learn how to do a double Salto (water jump),” said Anton Kruckel, a 19 year-old from Berlin. 70 year-old member Ursula Schwarz is in her seventh year with the club. “With the community here it's a lot of fun. When you leave the water after swimming you have a feeling that your happiness hormones are flowing," she said.
