** I did not mention the use of wheel chocks and safety stands when working on your car. Make sure you safely chock the rear wheels, firmly apply the parking brake and use safety stands whenever you raise your vehicle off the ground!!! ** Video tutorial explaining (in detail) how to conduct a transmission drain and fill ATF fluid service for a 3rd generation Honda Odyssey. This procedure is very similar to the previous generation Odyssey and takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. Fluid service should at the minimum be done ever 30, 000 miles or 50, 000 kms. Fluid used was Honda ATF-DW1 (3.1 liters). Procedure covers model years 2005-2010. Please note that there are two drain plug/dipstick locations depending on your model year of Odyssey. 2005-2006 drain plug is located on the driver's side of the transmission casing with the dipstick located just behind the van's battery positive terminal. On the later 2007-2010 model years (that use the revised 4 shaft transmission) has the drain plug located on the passenger side of the transmission casing with the dipstick located in FRONT of the van's battery's positive terminal. Both dipsticks are color identified by the "Yellow" looped handle. DO NOT under any circumstances add any additives to your ATF and always double check your ATF fluid levels. Too little result in a burnt transmission and too much will lead to foaming of the fluid which will lead to slippage and blown seals. Consult your van's owner's manual for further details.
