Mitsubishi Motors Europe announced today that the first of two new compact SUVs set to launch in 2025 will be called "Grandis." Designed to compete in Europe's largest segment (C-SUV), the Grandis targets young, active families who need space and versatility in a compact and efficient SUV, equipped with advanced technologies and integrated Google services. Echoing Mitsubishi Motors' early 2000s minivan, the name Grandis—derived from the Latin word meaning "grand" and "impressive"—was chosen to reflect its generous interior space and bold, confident design. It features a new adaptation of Mitsubishi Motors' "Dynamic Shield" front signature and the rear visual identity "Hexaguard Horizon." In addition to its spacious and versatile interior, the new Grandis offers a comprehensive suite of ADAS technologies and connectivity with integrated Google services, ensuring safety and comfort for the whole family, whether for daily commutes or weekend adventures. Developed for Europe, the new Grandis will be available with mild-hybrid (MHEV) and full-hybrid (HEV) powertrains, delivering both performance and efficiency. The new Grandis will be unveiled in July and will go on sale in late autumn 2025. A second 100% electric SUV (BEV) will follow later in 2025.
