New way to support my work - Buy me a coffee on ko-fi https://ko-fi.com/deankopri777 The biggest and most detailed Tomb raider inspired theme and video that I ever did! And what a perfect timing for it - Lara's birthday on 14th of Feb, 25 years of Tomb raider celebration & "Unifying the timeliness" for a next Lara's adventure! No surprise, I was really inspired and motivated to make it. 😊 Now, let's go into some details. My goal was not to include only main themes from each game in order from 1st one to last one, but to create a medley where those themes sometimes play at the same time. That's why I used those that are well recognized. Yeah, sometimes it's the full theme, but sometimes just a motif that lasts for a few seconds. I don't want you to miss any of them so I'll post a detailed explanation with time-marks: 00:00 The most recognizable one - classic TR 1 theme. For this part, I've used a combination of a synth sound and classical instruments (in this case oboe, strings, harp and a soft choir) with a mood from "End Level" theme from TR 3 00:28 A motif from "A Long Way Down" theme from TR 1 performed by xylophone which leads us to another well know theme aka "Survivor" 00:34 A "Survivor" theme first time introduced in E3 trailer back in 2011. Here I continued using the mentioned "A Long Way Down" motif in the background while solo flute performs this beautiful theme. I have orchestrated it to match the classic's era games. 00:57 Ah, Egypt again! 😊 Egypt is such an important location in Tomb raider (TR1, TR4, TR:A, LC: ToO) that I just had to include some of that oriental feel. This is a part where I used cellos and, as a contrast, a trumpet, oboe and flute. For a just a few bars you can recognize theme that plays at the beginning of the "Sacred Lake" level in The Last Revelation game. 01:22 Now onto "Angel Of Darkness" section. After that big crescendo, it was natural for AoD to kick in with the main theme part. At 01:31 I've combined 2 of the themes - "Trawling For Clues" and "Parisian Back Streets - The Accused". 01:49 Part where I introduced the Legend main theme, but not as grand as it was in the game. I wanted to make the transition between AoD and Legend more smooth, so I continued using motifs from "The Accused" while piano and choir are performing the Legend theme. In this section there are well hidden details in the background - for example, harp playing the notes from TLR theme, and oboe playing a TR2 motif at 01:59 02:05 This is where I went full force! Legend theme performed by choir, horns and cellos with short Underworld motif played by piano, horns and trumpets at 02:06 and 02:15! If you listen carefully, you might notice string instruments playing motif from "Venice Violins" all way through. 02:24 Short transition from Legend to a new section with AoD and TLR motif! 02:29 My favorite part! This is where I went crazy with references to various games. Let's start with noticeable ones. Main theme from the last era (TR2013, RotTR and SotTR) is here performed by violas and cellos. Piano, cellos, basses and percussion are playing the T-Rex motifs from TR1 which also resemblance action tracks from TR1, 2 and 3. And during the whole section, staccato strings are playing "God of Thunder" aka Amanda's ship from Underworld. At 02:33 you can hear a glimpse of a classic TR theme. 02:47 Here I took a step further by adding a full classic TR main theme to everything mentioned earlier for the grand finale. 03:07 Final bars - overlapping the 1st era's theme - violins and flute, and the last era's theme - cellos and piano with a harp for a finishing touch. And that's it - THE END! 03:21 no need to point that one out, right? 😉 I really hope you enjoyed it! It brings me such joy sharing my TR inspired tracks with you! I want to thank all composers who worked on Tomb raider games. Thank you for years and years of inspiration - Nathan McCree, Peter Connelly, Martin Iveson, Troels Brun Folmann, Colin O'Malley, Jason Graves, Ulric Corbeil Trudel, Eric Shaw and Mathieu Beaudet, Bobby Tahouri, Will Roget II, Brian D'Oliveira.
