LBC Radio Hands Over to London News Talk 1152am (London)

LBC (London Broadcasting Company) was Britain's first legal independent radio station and was launced in October 1973. Twenty years later the Radio Authority refused to renew its two licences, LBC Newstalk and London Talkback Radio. Instead the frequencies were awarded to London News Radio. I have been through my archive of radio recordings and have found my recordings of the moment LBC's Medium Wave radio station London Talkback Radio handed over broadcasting duties to its successor London News Talk. The hosts are Mike Mendoza who began his career as a radio host in Australia and New Zealand. He hands over to Australian-born broadcaster Brian Hayes who began his career in Western Australia. The news presenter is Douglas Cameron who began his career in Scotland. After public demand the name LBC was eventually used by the station again.
