This is an old Casio S-1 that used VFD. I had another in the early 80s that was even older than this. I vaguely remember that having a steel template around the slider switches and more significantly it displayed '0' with just half of the 8 segments, i.e. only the bottom part of the '0' will be displayed. If I come across what I've described above, I'll gladly purchase it. Anyway, these things need 4 x AA (6 Volts) batteries to run. They are current hungry. By contrast the LCD ones that replaced these could run on button cell batteries for ages, or even be solar powered with dim indoor lighting. These came with a linear power supply adaptor that outputs 4.5 Volts. For that reason, calculators, watches, Casio Game & Watch etc. all used LCD displays.
