Moment Terrorist Who Beheaded Teacher Got Shot by French Police

47-year-old history teacher Samuel Paty was brutally killed in broad daylight on Friday afternoon as he was walking home from school by an 18-year-old Moscow-born Chechen refugee. The attacker was later killed by the police after he failed to respond to orders and fired an airgun. The horrible murder happened in the town of Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, some 30km (20 miles) north-west of central Paris. The victim allegedly showed controversial caricatures of Prophet Mohammed during a class about freedom of speech, in relation to the Charlie Hebdo case. He advised Muslim students to look away if they thought they might be offended, as Islam considers any depiction of the Prophet as blasphemous. This episode led to threats and complaints from a parent. French President Emmanuel Macron defined the gruesome act as an “Islamist terrorist attack”, and nine people have been arrested so far, among them the suspect’s parents, grandfather and his 17-year-old brother.
