Song: A World Without Love Artist: The Beatles Composer: Lennon/McCartney Unreleased This video is part of the "Reimagined" video series where I will be recording many of the songs The Beatles wrote and gave away to other artists. I will try my best to arrange and produce these songs as if they were actually recorded and released by The Beatles. Hope you enjoy this series as much as I do! ‘A World Without Love’ was written by Paul McCartney at the age of 16 and recorded by Peter And Gordon in January 1964. The song topped the charts on both sides of the Atlantic. It is the biggest Lennon/McCartney hit that was not released by The Beatles. Peter Asher was the elder brother of McCartney’s girlfriend Jane Asher. He and Gordon Waller recorded several McCartney songs, including ‘A World Without Love’. The song topped the UK charts in May 1964, displacing The Beatles’ 'Can’t Buy Me Love' from number one. The following month it topped the US chart. It was the first time a Lennon-McCartney composition recorded by an act other than The Beatles entered the top 40. McCartney’s demo version of ‘A World Without Love’ was made public in January 2013 and had its first play during an Asher show at the Iridium in New York. Asher discovered the demo in a box of DAT tapes which contained various analogue recordings he had transferred. The tapes included various radio shows he had recorded, plus the demo version McCartney specially recorded for the duo back in the day. The 30-second demo features McCartney performing himself the first verse of the song on an acoustic guitar. When Peter and Gordon decided to record the song they asked Paul to write the bridge part which he did just in time for the recording session. -------------------------------------------- Gear used: AKG C414 XLS Neumann TLM 102 Focusrite ISA One UA Apollo Twin MKII Presonus Eris E5 XT Shure E2c In-Ear Monitor Audio Technica ATH-M50 Software: Logic Pro X Final Cut Pro UAD Plug-In Suite Software Instrument for the Drum parts If you enjoyed it please like and subscribe for support.
