Hello dear patients. Today we are going to review the case of pimples on glans penis. A young man came to us and as he thought, he had pimples on glans penis. Apart from that, after reading the internet he decided that he had genital warts or condylomas acuminatas. This made sense as during observation these little neoplasms were not excluded. First, dermatoscopy was done to exclude such diagnosis as molluscum contagiosum, it can be located on any area of skin integuments and it can be located on glans penis as well – we have seen such cases in our practice. You can watch several videos on our channel about what molluscum contagiosum is. So, dermatoscopy was done for this young man and molluscum contagiosum was excluded. We couldn’t completely exclude human papillomavirus by a rule of thumb, this is what many patients and doctors like to do, as neoplasms are small. So we decided to take analysis for human papillomavirus from the surface of these rashes and from inside the canal, for 21 types of human papillomavirus with concentration. In parallel we checked for other sexually transmitted infections, but this was only at the patient’s will. These analyses were negative so we came to a conculsion that these are not condylomas acuminatas, these are sebaceous glands. Sebaceous glands can be located on glans penis. The skin is thin there and you can see such neoplasms on it, they are of relatively small size, so they look like this. This disease is also called Fordyce granules, it can be localized on the margin of glans penis where sebaceous glands are quite translucent and such an event can be found there. In this case you can recommend removing these glands by laser, radiowave method or electrocoagulation, and it was offered to this patient and if the patient doesn’t want it, then generally speaking, we can avoid doing any kind of interventions if they don’t bother and don’t induce quick ejaculation. In some cases we noticed that removal of sebaceous glands and Fordyce granules as well as other neoplasms even normal ones on penis, based on patient’s feedback, removes such symptom as quick ejaculation. So, if you don’t have such problems as this patient had, then together with patient we decided not to touch these neoplasms, considering that they are not contagious and have no potential danger for him or for sexual partner. So, not all neoplasms on sexual organs have to be removed and they can be left alone as in this case.
