You can think of the SX as the evil-twin in the Giant's lineup, some models have it, some don't, but its aimed as a midpoint between the bike you're looking at and the next more aggresive step up. For the Reign, it means 10 more mm of travel up front and a coil shock in the back. In previous years the Reign and the Reign SX had different frames, being the SX slacker and ever so slightly longer. For 2018 both bikes have the same frame, they've made the bike significanlty longer, having grown the Reach from 453 to 473mm for the Large frame. Interestingly enough they went with the 65* headangle of the 2017 Reing instead of the 64.5 of the 2017 Reign SX. To me, it works, this bike pedaled well, felt super stable in the air, which I corroborated in a conversation with other riders who could send the big tabletops and just felt super easy to ride. In my opinion, this is a bike you should consider if you want an agressive enduro bike that can handle climbing but also bike park duty, there are other bikes that probably do better at each thing, but with this you can have one that does both very well. I wouldn't personally own this because for Florida its quite overkill and despite pedaling well for its travel, there are Trail bikes that do better when you have to pedal constantly. At $4k, which is of course a lot of money, but in the world of high end bikes this is a very nice setup for the money. Always take into account that bike taste is subjective, so the best thing you can do is go out there and do your own demo if you're considering this bike. The intention here isn't to get a professional review of the bike, I'll leave that to the pros, its more a chance for you to see the bike in action and get my opinion as just a regular rider.
