Kyle at Art's Records & Tapes here. In today's video, we're going to be hunting for records at a whole bunch of garage sales. Every June, my neighborhood hosts a neighborhood-wide garage sale, and there's always records to be found. You know, you've got your random pile of records next to the used baby clothes, and then you've got folks who use the sale as an excuse to whittle down their collection - so they're mostly just selling records. Last year's sale was actually the subject of my very first video on this channel. I found some good stuff then, and this year didn't disappoint either. So let's get into the first sale... This house never disappoints. I've found some great records here. This is one of the guys who has a record only sale every year as an excuse to purge his collection, and he knows what he's doing and has great taste. This one, although a little rougher around the edges, was in good shape; and I've been picking up as much Prestige Jazz as I can get lately. More on that in a future video... I went back for one in that last crate; you'll see that at the end when I do the flip video. Now this next one was all right. They had a small pile of LPs, and it was kind of dark in the corner of the garage, so apologies for that. I'm going to cut out this nice lady's phone number. They were negotiating a bunch of CDs, which I probably should have taken a look at but, eh... This sale had a bunch of your run-of-the-mill $3 to $5 records that I was happy to get for a buck a piece. I should have grabbed that one. I should have also grabbed that Mud Slide Slim and the Three Dog Nights... Here's a lesson for the less seasoned collectors out there: always check conditions at garage sales and thrift stores. Even if they say they're in good condition, they might not be, or they might not meet your personal standards. It was also quite scratched! I was happy to get that stack. Now this next sale was another "records only sale." It's funny how many record guys there are in my neighborhood - myself included, of course! To be honest, I wasn't really feeling this sale; I was more in a bargain hunting mood and these guys knew what they were doing and had everything priced accordingly. So I flipped through a few bins but left pretty quick. ...and another Sergio I should have grabbed. Unfortunately, that American Breed record was pretty beat; I would have liked to have added that one to my collection. This next find was at what we call a "free market." Like a flea market, but everything's free! I'll take a free Rita Coolidge any day of the week! It was in good shape. As you can kind of see there, I found a bunch of really cool stuff at this free sale -I had a whole trash can full - but nothing else record-related. These last two sales were both duds...so we can go through them fast. But stay tuned to the end for a flip video of everything I ended up with from these sales. It was a good haul. And if you're still watching at this point and haven't yet subscribed or hit that like button, please do so. I've got some more videos like this coming soon along with some other cool stuff. Again, I'm Kyle at Art's Records & Tapes. Thanks so much for watching, and I'll see you next time."
