https://www.hispanicoutlook.com/educa... Lights, camera, action! In this issue of The Hispanic Outlook on Education magazine we focus on arts and the media. The emergence of Hispanic actors, directors and producers is impacting the motion picture landscape. We celebrate cinematic successes like Oscar winners “The Shape of Water,” helmed by Mexican director and writer Guillermo del Toro, as well as “Coco,” based on the Mexican holiday of the Day of the Dead. We also applaud the Montefiore Health System in the Bronx for addressing the organ transplant issue by producing "Corazón," a 48-minute short film starring Cuban actor Ana de Armas as Elena Ramirez, a prostitute with a terminal heart condition. Currently, more than 115 thousand people are waiting for an organ transplant. Each day 22 of those people die because these lifesaving organs aren’t available. And movies aren’t the only areas of the arts where Hispanics are basking in the spotlight. In this issue, we salute the best communities recognized for excellence in promoting music education. In addition, read about the ways art centers are gearing up to develop a more diverse leadership in the museums of the nation. The media is the message this month.
