Brian's sea fishing. Bait pump Self lubricating setup

I have extended the thread on the brass rod about a total of 8 inches. I then work out how far up the thread I want the sponge to start and fit a M8 Locking nut Then I start with a stainless steel 25mm washer first then a large section of sponge with a 3 inch long piece of tube in the centre of the sponge that fits tightly over the 8 mm brass rod . then fit another stainless steel 25mm washer this will keep the large piece of sponge in place and the tube will prevent the sponge from being squashed or compressed. Then fit a thin piece of rubber or neoprene washer as a seal preventing any water lubricant from draining away from the sponge . You can then fit your normal pump washer of whatever you use ? I use silicone then another 25mm stainless steel washer keeping you washer in place and finish off with what ever you use as a locking nut for adjusting the pump suction. But because I have this self lubricating sponge in my pump it also helps with the suction so I don't need the silicone compressed as much ??? This leaves me with hardly any pressure and the pump is very easy to move up and down BUT HAS BETTER SUCTION . I also only have to lubricate the pump at the start of the pumping session and not every 5/6 pumps because what ever I use as a lubricant stays in the sponge and it lubricates the pump every time I either pull up or push down making it every easy to use the pump.
